- **Event Description**: On Friday 20 February, The Centre for the Less Good Idea presents HOW | Showing the Making, with South African jazz pianist, composer, arranger, and singer-songwriter, Thandi Ntuli. 
This HOW will focus on the evolution of Ntuli’s practice, seeing the musician sharing her most significant artistic processes and strategies as she reflects on her career to date. 

Through a combination of musical exploration, conversation, and live performance, Ntuli will explore her routines and rituals of making, unpacking the relationship between her voice and the piano, and contextualising her roles as both a solo artist and a frequent collaborator.

Thandi Ntuli is South African multi-award-winning pianist, singer-songwriter, composer and arranger, who hails from a lineage of rich musical heritage. Since the release of her debut album The Offering (2014), she’s made an imprint on the global jazz community as one of the leading voices of modern South African Music and jazz. 

Beyond the scope to her own work, her many collaborations with various artists around the globe display the genre-bending nature of her compositional style. These include but are not limited to work with Shabaka &amp; The Ancestors, Carlos Niño, Sipho ‘Hotstix’ Mabuse, Thandiswa Mazwai and, most recently, working with William Kentridge in the collaborative workshop process of The Great Yes, The Great No. She has also featured as a soloist with Wynton Marsalis and the Jazz at Lincoln Centre Orchestra.

Other notable works include her sophomore release Exiled (2018), which coincided with her receiving the prestigious Standard Bank Young Artist Award for Jazz; Thandi Ntuli ‘Live at Jazzwerkstatt’ (2020), as a co-producer/co-curator and contributor, Indaba Is (2021) with UK based indie-label, Brownswood recordings, Blk Elijah &amp; The Children of Meroë (2022) and a collaborative album with Grammy nominated percussionist and producer Carlos Niño, Rainbow Revisited (2023). The latter was released under Chicago-born progressive label, International Anthem.

Other notable awards and nominations including a Metro Fm Award nomination (2015), a Mbokodo Award (2015) and multiple South African Music Award (SAMA) nominations over the years.
